Abstract
The present work was aimed to describe facile procedures for synthesis of novel pyridine-2(1H)-thione derivatives and bis-pyridine-2(1H)- thione derivative which were taken as synthetic precursors to prepare the corresponding bis-2-S-alkyl pyridine derivatives and bis-thieno[2,3- b]pyridine derivatives and their corresponding derivatives fused with pyrimidine and [1,2,3]triazine rings. Also, the synthetic potential of thieno[2,3-b]pyridine-2-carbohydrazide derivative was investigated to prepare its derivatives with pyrazolyl moiety or fused with pyrimidine ring. Structures of all newly synthesized heterocyclic compounds were established by considering the data of both spectroscopic and elemental analyses
