Abstract This thesis describes the development of three different chemical sensors for various applications. Firstly, NH2-MIL-101(Cr) was used as an adsorbent to investigate the adsorption of acid red 57 (AR57) and methylene blue (MB) in aqueous medium. NH2-MIL-101(Cr) demonstrated high adsorption capacity for both dyes. Secondly, a chemical sensor based on NH2-UiO-66(Zr) was developed for rapid detection of Cd2+ and Hg2+ ions. The developed 2HA=N-UiO-66(Zr) sensor showed great sensitivity and selectivity for determining Cd2+ and Hg2+ ions in a variety of tap water samples. Finally, a novel chemical sensor was developed for assessing the degree of Fe2+ ion rusting in various water samples such as boiler systems. The sensor material was created by condensation of 2-acetylpyridine with NH2-MIL-53(Al) MOF. The created chemical sensor was able to perceive Fe2+ ions colorimetry even at a trace level of ferrous ions and fluorometry in a quick and easy process, and showed a strong correlation with the ICP data that had already been recorded. |
