Abstract

Knowledge management is an important issue in the business organizations. The business organization which is able to manage knowledge will secure competitive advantage and sustainable growth. The aim of this paper is to show that via creation, accumulation, organizing and utilization of knowledge, organizations will improve performance of the organization. The impact of knowledge management on performance was empirically tested through structural equation modeling. The sample includes four companies in Egypt with more than 50 employees. Knowledge management is greatly seen as a highly valuable weapon for developing and sustaining competitive advantage and improving performance within the organization. This research tries to show if ”that knowledge management measured through information technology, organization (climate, culture, structure) and knowledge positively affect organizational performance”.
A questionnaire was designed using structured questions to collect primary data from employees of the four companies on different managerial levels. Personal interviews were held with some management staff of the organization. The results indicated that in one of these four Companies’ departments of the organization those tried to manage knowledge via usage of IT and knowledge management showed better performance. Most of the employees were supporting the idea that knowledge management is vital and effective tool for both personal achievement, organizational success and overall performance improvement. The results show that knowledge management measured through. Information technology, organization and knowledge positively affect organizational performance.
