Abstract In vitro study was carried out to measure the amount of dimensional changes of metal based flexible (Valplast) maxillary complete denture and heat cured polymethylmethacrylate resin maxillary complete denture before processing and after, and after processing, finishing, and polishing. A standard trial complete denture was constructed and duplication for eighteen dentures was done using duplicating silicone mold then dentures were divided into two groups group A: nine heat cured acrylic resin dentures by press pack technique . group B: nine Valplast flexible dentures processed by injection molded technique. Then metallic reference points were placed in sites as previously mentioned. Then the measurements were made for the dentures by two methods: First method: The measurements from the dentures on casts were obtained using digital caliper capable of measuring up to 0.01mm. Second method: All dentures were photographed with standardized digital camera position and imported to computer by which all measurements were obtained using image analysis software. All data were collected, tabulated and subjected to statistical analysis, and results show that there was statistically significant difference between two types of denture base materials |
