Abstract Purpose: To evaluate changes in foveal avascular zone (FAZ) in patients with macular telangiectasia type 2 (Mac Tel 2) and to compare these changes with a normal age matched control group. To evaluate changes in vascular density and retinal thickness in the FAZ area and para macular area in Mac Tel 2 group and compare these changes with a normal age matched control group. Design: Case control study. Methods: Our study is done on patients diagnosed with Mac Tel 2 and normal age matched control group, each group includes twenty-four eyes. All the patients and control had a comprehensive ophthalmologic examination, including visual acuity assessment, anterior, posterior segment examination and intraocular pressure measurement. Both Mac Tel group and control group had both optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) and Optical coherence tomography (OCT) imaging. Optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) Macular 3×3 mm En face and structural OCTA images centered on the fovea were obtained from each subject by using Optovue RTVue XR Avanti technology (Optovue, Inc, Freemont, CA) to obtain amplitude decorrelation angiography images. This instrument has an A-scan rate of 70,000 scans per second. |
