Abstract

SUMMARY AND CONCLUSION Gastric injury is one of the prevalent diseases affecting general population. Gastric ulcer is considered the most common gastric injury affecting millions of individuals worldwide. It is caused by imbalance between protective and injurious factors that affect the mucosal integrity. It is considered a very difficult disease in its treatment with a high rate of recurrence. It also could cause serious complications including gastric hemorrhage, perforations, pyloric outlet obstruction and malignancy.Açai berry is a small spherical dark purple berry that is found in the Amazon region. In recent years, açai has gained international popularity. It has many nutritional advantages and health benefits. It has a high content of bioactive compounds that are responsible for everal of its potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities. This research was performed to study the possible gastroprotective and therapeutic effect of açai berry extract on experimentally induced fundic gastric mucosal injury in adult male albino rat. This work was carried out on 50 adult male albino rats weighing 180-200 grams. The rats were randomly divided into five main groups (10 rats each) as follow: 1- group I (Control group): were further randomly subdivided into 2 subgroups
