Abstract The aim of the present study was to compare between primer application protocol or ultrasoniccleaning in ethanol decontamination technique on the shear bond strength of Rely X resin cement to salivary contaminated Prettau zirconia discs. In the present study, forty yttrium{u2013}partially stabilized with tetragonal polycrystalline prettau zirconia discs of 7 mm diameter and 2 mm thickness , were constructed by split copper mold using Zirconzahn CAD/CAM technology . Discs were treated by airborne particle abrasion of 50-110 æm Al2O3 at 2.5 bar pressure for 15 s at a distance of 10mm then rinsed with water for 30 seconds and air dried for another 30 seconds. -group 1 (Gp Cr) : Ten prettau zirconia discs were cemented to the composite disc without contamination ( act as control group ) . - group 2 (Gp Cn) : Ten prettau zirconia discs were contaminated with artificial saliva for 60 sec then rinsed with water for 30 second and air dried. -group 3 ( Gp E) : Ten prettau zirconia discs were cleaned ultrasonically with 96% ethanol for 2 min then rinsed with water for 30 seconds and air dried before contamination then contaminated by artificial saliva for 60 seconds , rinsed with water for 30 second and air dried. -group 4 ( Gp P) : Ten prettau zirconia discs were primed by MonoBond Plus in excess for 60 seconds before salivary contamination then contaminated by artificial saliva for 60 seconds , rinsed with water for 30 second and air dried . The forty prettau zirconia discs were cemented to forty composite discs of 5 mm diameter and 2 mm thickness, by self adhesive RelyX{u2122} Unicem Aplicap{u2122} according to manufacturer{u2019}s instruction by the aid of loading apparatus . All the cemented specimens were mounted on self cure acrylic resin mold for proper handling |
