Abstract

Diffusion-weighted MRI (DW-MRI) measures differences in tissue microstructure, based on the random displacement of water molecules. As such the technique is able to differentiate between tumoral tissue and non tumoral tissue. This can be applied on head and neck lymphadenopathy ,which is generally not a disease by itself , rather , it may be a symptom of one of many possible underlying infectious diseases , autoimmune disorders or malignancies (metastatic or lymphomas ). DWI allows differentiation between inflammatory and neoplastic lymph nodes
