Abstract Is to describe and analyze our registered MM patients regarding the incidence, epidemiological data, clinical and laboratory criteria of diagnosis. Different treatment protocols given and implication of stem cell transplantation were reviewed. The impact of all these variables on overall survival and progression free survival, aiming to study where we stand and to optimize our future therapy for our patient population. Retrospective study, including all cases with MM who presented to NEMROCK during the period from January 2003 to December 2013. Although 164 patients{u2019} records were registered on our computer system for that time period, only 62 files were retrieved by the archiving system to have enough data for evaluation. They were evaluated regarding epidemiological data, clinical presentation, staging and evaluation of all treatment modalities used for management of these cases. Type of Induction chemotherapy protocols, duration and response to treatment were assessed regarding their effect on survival. 164 patients{u2019} files were recorded at NEMROCK for this time period but only 62 had enough data for evaluation. The median age at diagnosis was 53 years. Male to female ratio in the was 1.4 to 1., patients usually present by advanced disease, stage III (50%) accompanied by medical comorbidities in one third of cases. Bone disease represented a major burden in (83%) while renal impairment occurred in (30%) of cases. The median overall survival for this group of patients was 40.1 months which dropped to 17.8 months with renal impairment P=0.02 |
