Abstract
nflammation represents a vital defense mechanism that is crucial for
maintenance of host health particularly in acute disease states (Abdulkhaleq
et al., 2018). However, inflammation becomes an annoyance
when the body suffers from unregulated or prolonged inflammation
where targeted destruction and intended repair are not appropriately
controlled by its mediators leading to persistent host tissue damage that
conclude with the insurgence of different pathologies as cardiovascular
disease (CVD), atherosclerosis, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD),
multiple sclerosis and neurodegenerative diseases (Izano et al., 2016).
Several types of synthetic pharmacological therapies are utilized to slow
down or suppress the progression of these devastating inflammatory
