Abstract The facial paralysis patient suffers serious functional, cosmetic, and psychological problems with impaired ability to communicate. The end to end hypoglossal-facial nerveanastomosis remains the gold standard procedure with satisfyingresults in cases of viable distal facial stump and non-atrophicmuscles. Early hypoglossal-facial anastomotic repair after acute facial nerveinjury is associated with better long-term facial function outcomesand should be considered in the management algorithm |
