Abstract Formation of white spot lesions is an unesthetic, common side effect of orthodontic treatment with fixed appliances therapy, which frequently complicates the patient’s habitual oral hygiene procedures by the accumulation of dental plaque adjacent to the brackets and bands that’s increases the patient’s risk of caries, and development of white spot lesions at the end of corrective orthodontic therapy. Recently, there are many ways to stop or reverse the progression of WSLs including adoption of good oral hygiene measures with fluoride toothpaste, preventive measures that don’t depend on the patients cooperation. These included ; the use of glass ionomer cement, topical applications of preventive agents as fluoride and casein phosphopeptide-amorphous calcium phosphate, antibacterial agents incorporated in the adhesive resin,fluoride releasing adhesives, caries infiltration resins, bioactive glass containing materials. |
