Abstract Background: Cystic fibrosis is a multisystem disorder, the GIT involvement now take medical interest and this improve survival rate of CF patients ,GIT imaging has a vital role in early detection of GI tract affection. Objective: The aim of this study to find the relation between abdominal symptoms and abdominal ultrasound in pediatric patients with cystic fibrosis. Patients and methods: This was a cross sectional study based on history taking, clinical examination, laboratory investigation and abdominal ultrasound examination in thirty patients from cystic fibrosis clinic children Hospital, Cairo University, during the period from 1st January 2018 to 31st July 2018. Results: In our study 5 patients were found with pancreatic cystosis (17%) and7 patients with pancreatic lipomatosis (27%), we found statistical significance between recurrent abdominal pain(RAP) and pancreatic cystosis (P value=0.009) and in between RAP and pancreatic lipomatosis (P value=0.048). Conclusion recurrent abdominal pain is a common GIT manifestation and it may reflect a major pathology, we found a correlation inbetween RAP and pancreatic cystosis and lipomatosis so, US is an important follow up tool for CF patients |
