Abstract

Aim: The aim of study was to compare the effect of Calcium hydroxide nanoparticles paste versus double antibiotic paste which is used in endodontic regenerative procedure on the chemical structure of radicular dentin using Fourier transformation infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy to measure phosphate amide I ratio. Materials and methods: The double antibiotic paste was prepared by grinding equal number of tablets of Flagyl 500 mg and Ciprofloxacin 500 mg. The powder was then mixed with distilled water to form creamy mix. Calcium hydroxide nanoparticles was mixed with distilled water. The pastes were loaded in 3 cm syringe. Sixteen maxillary central incisors roots were divided vertically and horizontally to form 4 samples. Sixty three samples were divided to three equal groups (n{u208C}21). group (1) Calcium hydroxide nanoprticles, group (2) distilled water and group (3) Double antibiotic paste. Each group was then subdivided to 3 subgroup and measurement of specimens were at 1, 2, 4 weeks .Each specimen was placed in 1.5mL eppendorf and covered with 0.5mL of intracanal medication pastes and distilled water for control group. .After each time points each sample was examined using Fourier transformation infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy (JASCO INTERNATIONAL CO., LTD.) which analyze the relative loss of organic and inorganic components by using phosphate/amide I ratios. Results: Our result showed that there was statistically significant difference between control group and Calcium hydroxide nanoparticles group and DAP group, both showed increase in phosphate/amide I ratios without significant difference between them
