Abstract Necrotic primary molars are one of dental caries sequelea. Necrotic pulp may result in other sequelea including abscess formation, sinus, bone or root resorption and finally loss of teeth.Challenges in management of necrotic primary molars is related to complexity of root canal anatomy and complexity of root canal bacteria. Regarding complex anatomy, primary root canal contains multiple accessory canals, lateral branches, apical deltas or ramifications. Beside this there is complexity of biofilm of necrotic pulp.So the aim of the current study was to compare a newly introduced material which is a combination of triple mix antibiotics paste and anti-hyperlipidemia drug simvastatin, the new material is named 3MIX-TATIN & was compared to calcium hydroxide iodoform paste for management of necrotic primary molars by using Lesion Sterilization and Tissue Repair LSTR technique. In this study, subjects were selected from the outpatient clinic of Pediatric Dentistry Department, Faculty of Dentistry Cairo University. This aided to standardize the socioeconomic and educational status, most of subjects families there were regular attendee so it made the follow up sessions more accessible to them. In this study one hundred non-vital primary molars were included and randomly allocated into two groups. Both groups were treated by Lesion Sterilization and Tissue Repair Technique. In group (A) calcium hydroxide iodoform paste was used as a medicament, on the other hand in group (B) 3mixtatin which is a mixture of three antibiotics and simvastatin was used.Clinical evaluation of primary outcome (postoperative pain) recorded at 9th month follow up was 0.0% for group A with no cases reported with pain, and 9.5% for group B with 4 cases reported with pain |
