Abstract Background: The worldwide dissemination of the acquired carbapenemases in Gram-negative bacteria is a strongly expressed demand for the emergence of post antibiotic era. The aim of this study was to do antibiotic susceptibility screening of theclinicalenterobacterial isolates recovered from hospitalized cancer patients, phenotypic and genotypic characterization of carbapenemase producing enterobacterial isolates and to investigate their genetic relationship using Multilocus sequence typing (MLST(.Methodology: Antibiotic susceptibility testing was done by Disk Diffusion method and by using VITEK 2 automated machine.Modified Hodge test and Blue-CARBA was used to detect the carbapenemases production. Combined disk test was done to detect MBL production. ESBL production was tested by Double Disk Potentiation and Combination tests. Multiplex PCR was performed to test the presence of the most common carbapenemase genes (VIM, IMP, KPC, NDM, and OXA-48). PCR was done for class I integrase gene for MEM resistant E. coli. MLST was done to detect the genetic relationship of the isolates |
