Abstract

Objectives To investigate the effects of short-term low-dose aspirin and/or steroid use on implantation and pregnancy rates in nonselected intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) cycles. Methods Two-hundred and fifty patients undergoing intracytoplasmic sperm injection ( ICSI ) for their first cycle were enrolled in this study. Participants are then randomized into two equal groups ; group A patients received low dose prednisolone (10 mg/day) in addition to oral low dose (75 mg) of Acetylsalicylic acid (ASA), group B patients were on daily oral low dose (75 mg) of Acetylsalicylic acid (ASA) starting on 19th or 20th day of cycle with the start on long protocol. Double blinding was done. Results: Statistically significant difference was found between both groups as regards the number of days of stimulation, E2 on day of trigger, total oocytes retrieved, fertilization rate, endometrial thickness(mm). However, the number of MII oocytes and grade 1 embryos were non-significantly higher in group B. The clinical pregnancy rate was significantly higher in prednisolone and ASA.The implantation rate was also higher in group B may require further larger scale future studies with longer follow up to detect the effect on live birth rate
