Abstract

The main purpose of endodontic treatment is to preserve the teeth affected by dental caries, traumatic injuries or other causes and also their supporting tissues. In such cases, maintaining the vitality of the pulp tissue must be primarily attempted. However, a non-vital tooth is still able to function normally in the oral cavity Methods of determining the WL include tactile sensation, knowledge of root canal lengths and anatomy, assessment of preoperative radiographs, and electronic apex locators (EALs) and recently the 3D imaging modalities.Electronic devices, such as apex locators, first described by Sunada in 1962, and digital radiography have been developed with the aim of increasing the success of endodontic treatment and reducing the disadvantages associated with conventional radiography Cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) scanning has become a popular and important method for diagnosis and treatment planning in various branches of dental medicine, including endodontics. Based on the limitations & advantages of CBCT ad apex locators, it was our mission to compare the accuracy between the two techniques in measurement of the WL in endodontic treatment.The findings indicated that there was no statistical difference between the CBCT represented by 2 softwares & apex locator in comparing them pairwise. This data lends support that using CBCT imaging is as accurate as other methods in determining working length
