Abstract

Two field Experiments were conducted in private farm at El-Nobaria region, El-Baheria Governorate Egypt, during the winter growing seasons of (2015 and 2016) to study the response of potato to irrigation deficit, soil conditioner and antitranspirant on water use efficiency, growth, yield and quality of potato crop.
The treatments distributed in experimental location (split spilt plot design) as follows:
A) Main plots (Irrigation levels)
 100 % ET0 (of reference evapotranspiration)
 75 % ET0 (of reference evapotranspiration)
 50 % ET0 (of reference evapotranspiration)
B) Sub-plots (soil conditioner)
 Control treatment (without applying)
 4 kg/fed.
 8 kg/fed.
C) Sub-sub plots (antitranspirant)
 Control
 0.25 l/fed.
 0.50 l/fed.
The obtained result could summarize as follow:
5.1 Growth characters
5.1.1 Plant height (cm)
 Increasing irrigation levels at (100 % ET0) recorded the tallest plants of potato plants during both seasons as compared to the other treatments. In addition, the application of soil conditioner up to 8 kg/fed recorded the maximum values of plant height, during both seasons as compared to control treatment, which gave the minimum values of plant height. On the other hand, application of antitranspirant up to 0.50 l/fed gave the highest mean values of plant height as compared to control treatment during both seasons.
 The interaction effects between irrigation levels and soil conditioner, between irrigation levels and antitranspirant and between soil conditioner and antitranspirant on plant height were highly significant of potato plants in the first season and not significant in the second season, respectively.
 The interaction between irrigation levels, soil conditioner and antitranspirant were not significant during both seasons, respectively.
