Abstract This study was carried out in the River Nile where water samples were collected from eight stations along Rosetta Branch during summer 2019.The measured parameters are: physical; water temperature, transparency, and electrical conductivity; chemical pH, DO, BOD, COD, Fe, Zn, Cu, Mn, and Cd. Fifty samples from Oreochromis niloticus and Clarias gariepinus were collected from (I) at El-Qanater El-Khyria, (IV) after El-Rahawy Drain, (VII) at Kom Hamada city, and (VIII) at Kafr El-Zayat city. Serum levels of glucose, total protein, albumin, urea, creatinine, and FGF23, were assessed. Tissue levels of Fe, Zn, Cu, Mn, and Cd, the activities of SOD, CAT, and GST, level of MDA, and moisture, protein, lipid, ash, carbohydrates, and calorific value were also assessed. The results showed significant differences (P≤0.05) in the values of temperature, transparency, EC, DO, BOD, COD, Fe, Zn, Mn, Cu, and Cd when compared to reference site I (El-Qanater). The results also showed significant difference (P≤0.05) in the levels of glucose, total protein, albumin, urea, creatinine, and FGF23 in serum and the activities SOD, CAT, and GST, level of MDA of in the tissue of Oreochromis niloticus and Clarias gariepinus from studied stations of Rosetta branch as compared with control site (I). Metal accumulation in different tissues of the studied fish samples was found to be in the following order: Fe > Zn > Mn > Cu > Cd in muscles and gills. The mean values of moisture, protein, lipid, ash, carbohydrates, and calorific were (80.16, 17.18, 1.23, 1.14, 0.32, and 80.54 %) for Oreochromis niloticus and (78.66, 18.16, 1.61, 1.18, 0.82, and 92.3%) for Clarias gariepinus, respectively. Keywords: FGF23 hormone, Chemical composition, Oreochromis niloticus, Clarias gariepinus, Antioxidant enzymes. |
