Abstract

This study aimed to know the effect of irrigation systems and
cultivation methods on the yield and quality of snap beans yield under sandy
soil conditions. The study was conducted on a farm in Al -Khatatba area,
Menoufia Governorate, Egypt. In this study, two types of irrigation were used,
which are drip and microsprinkler irrigation, and four different varieties of
snap beans, namely (Alpha, Giza 6, Karnak and Nebraska), as well as two
methods of cultivation (regular cultivation - irregular cultivation). The effect
was studied for two seasons (winter 2019 and 2020 respectively). The
experiment was designed as Spilt- spilt plots in a randomized complete
blocks design. The most important results of the study indicated that drip
irrigation gave better productivity than microsprinkler irrigation, with an
increase of about 20% in terms of snap bean yield, as the highest production
was (3.62 ton/fed) for drip irrigation while it was (2.98 ton/fed) for
microsprinkler irrigation. The study also indicated that Alpha and Giza 6
gave the best productivity with drip irrigation during the second season (3.62
ton/ fed) and (3.56 ton/fed) for each of the two varieties, respectively.
