Abstract Patient with severe chronic impairment of renal function on regular hemodialysis may present with an array of skin abnormalities. Pruritus xerosis, pallor and pigmentary changes are the most commonly manifested skin lesions with no statistical difference between age, sex of the patients, duration of hemodialysis and cause of ESRD. With the wider availability of hemodialysis centers and improvement in hemodialysis machines, patients with ESRD are surviving longer and exhibiting cutaneous complications of CKD and hemodialysis. Some of these may be missed if not specifically sought. Furthermore, if these features are observed in patient, the possibility of renal disease should be considered early in the differential diagnosis. At least one cutaneous manifestation is found in all(100) ESRD patients. The most prevalent findings were pruritus followed by xerosis and pallor thenhyper pigmentation with the advent of hemodialysis, the life expectancy of these of these patients had increased giving time for newer cutaneous changes to manifest. The etiology of chronic renal failure, age and sex didn’t affect the development of cutaneous, oral, nail and hair abnormalities. The dermatological manifestations may cause significant distress to the patients with CKD, hence these manifestations should be actively looked for in all CKD patients, as early recognition, diagnosis and management can reduce morbidity and improve the quality of life of ESRD patients.
