Abstract

Honey is a natural sweet material and viscous liquid produced by honeybee, that gathers the nectar from secretions of flowers and from secretions of a few plant sucking insects. Carbohydrates are essential components of honey (glucose, fructose and sucrose). Honey also contains pigments (carotenoids and anthocyanins), polyphenolic compounds (phenolic acids and flavonoids), amino acids, vitamins, enzymes, natural acids and minerals as well as other minor chemicals.These components of honey provide benefits and additives within the human body as well as the secondary components of honey help in the prevention of some diseases.
