Abstract Increased incidence of cancer in recent years and its impact on different physical, mental, and social dimensions of human life have turned it to a major problem of the century. The incidence of this disease in developed countries varies from 1 to 2 %, with almost 5% yearly increase in less developed countries. According to estimates, more than 7 million people globally die from cancer. Meanwhile, breast cancer is the most prevalent type of malignant neoplasms among women with more than one million new cases per year. Incidence of breast cancer is increasing worldwide, despite the huge improvement in breast cancer prognosis and survival. In Egypt, the incidence of breast cancer between women reached almost 18.9% of all diagnosed cancer cases. Cancer affects patients’ quality of life to various degrees. The major problems affecting patients’ life quality are the mental and emotional impacts of illness, diagnostic and therapeutic measures, stress, pain, depression, and disease consequences on family, marital, and social relations, as well as the induced economic burdens, nutritional issues, and treatment complications. |
