Abstract

Background: Vitiligo is a pigmentary disorder which doesn’t cause physical impairment but considerably produces psychological impairment. Patients suffer from low self-esteem and poor quality of life. Partial response to therapy and long duration of re-pigmentation to occur are common. Camouflage improves the patient’s appearance as it conceals the vitiligo lesions until the effect of therapy appears, thus improving their confidence and self-esteem. Objectives: To assess quality of life in vitiligo patient before and after the use of efficient camouflage and to assess acceptance of patients for camouflage and their willingness to use it. Methods: An interventional study on 100 vitiligo patients attending the Dermatology Outpatient Clinic between May 2018 and February 2019. All patients underwent thorough history taking, clinical examination and DLQI assessment. Forty patients (40%) were randomly chosen and taught how to apply camouflage. They were given the appropriate camouflage products and followed up after 1 month of regular application
