Abstract This thesis concentrates on the negative impact of high temperature on PV module’s output energy and different types of cooling techniques that can be used in order to avoid this negative impact. Phase Change Materials (PCMs) passive cooling technique was introduced, experimentally tested on a 30W PV module and the results were compared to another regular 30W PV module. The main idea of this technique is to absorb heat from PV module by attaching heat exchanger that contains PCM (PEG-1000) on the back side of PV module. The experiment was done two times using two different heat exchanger (A&B). Type A is a container made of Aluminum (AL) sheet with 2mm thickness. The container was filled with PEG-1000 material and attached at the backside of the PV module. Type B is an AL sheet with 2mm thickness attached at the backside of the PV module using screws at the edges of its frame, and the gap between the AL sheet and PV backside was filled with PEG-1000 material. The results showed that the output energy of PV module with PCM cooling technique is higher than the one without |
