Abstract
The current study showed that TFA and CGA, either alone or in combination with CIS, DOXO, and 5-FU, were efficacious in treating HCC. This is accomplished through a number of intracellular pathways, including a significant decrease in the tumour marker AFP, oxidative stress, inhibition of metalloproteinases 3, 9, and 12, cellular migration, and gelatinolytic activities as indices of metastasis. This suggests that both treatments have an ameliorative effect on the tumour cells. Since TFA and CGA have antioxidant effects, we believe that using them as a chemosensitizer may hold new promise in the treatment of HCC and may lessen the toxic side effects of chemotherapy drugs.
