Abstract This thesis investigates the ways in which ancient Egyptian cities with myth, cosmic and funeral meanings were brought together infiction of the BD., that they are also the theme of other ancient Egyptian funerary compositions. For example, the pyramid text and the coffin text concerning among the encounters of the deceased during his journey, the manner in which the deceased personally interacts with those cities on a broader perspective, the central role they played. Therefore, the spells of the book of the dead recorded on it may be associated with the journey to the realm of the dead. The function of the cities of BD., here is that of taking the role of gods of the netherworld in rebirth, therefore the funerary sphere to which the book of the dead spells refer gains an amplified cosmological and ritual dimension, concerning the power of city in the realm of the dead. I would define these cities from lexicographically point of view, as the cities related to Osiris through the journey of the soul through the pilgrimage to Amentet, the cities related to Re through the journey of the soul in the Duat, and the unidentified cities through the journey of the soul within the fields of heaven (Sekht-Hotep) |
