Abstract

Objectives: primly; to evaluate which diabetic patient with LUTS due to BPH will benefit from TURP, and hence not subjecting those who will not benefit to the hazards of a useless operation. Secondly; to determine the degree of diabetic cystopathy by urodynamics and its correlation to the success of TURP. Lastly; to determine what clinical findings obviates the need for urodynamics in the diabetic patient with BPH.Methods: A series of 40 males diabetic patients with symptomatic senile prostatic enlargement who underwent TURP, were evaluated after 2 weeks, 3 and 6 months of catheter removal to assess Flow curve, IPSS , PVR, Patient satisfaction and QoL. Results: - there was reasonable improvement in all post -operative parameters after 2 weeks and 3 month in the study group it had been found that after 6 months of follow up a significant reduction in PVR (ml); 81.46%, with significant increase in Qmax; 194.61% also significant reduction in IPSS; 61.49% after 6 months follow up with significant improvement in QoL; 52.46%. Pre-operative parameters were significantly correlated with the values of Q-max, IPSS, Qol and PVR at 2-weeks, 3 months and 6 months post-operative follow up. Also, we found that whole pre-operative parameters had no correlation with the post-operative detrusal over-activity.Bladder sensation and prostate volume had no correlation with the post-operative follow up basic parameters
