Abstract Background: Kinesio taping (KT) has become of interest in the management of brachial plexus birth palsy (BPBP). Accordingly, this is the first systematic review to explicitly report the effect of KT on BPBP.Objective: To systematically review the effectiveness of kinesio taping on improving upper limb motor function in children with brachial plexus injury.Method: Articles were identified through searches of the following databases:PubMed, The Cochrane Library, OVID, Web of Science, Science Direct and Google scholar till June 2018. We expanded our search to all research designs except expert opinions and non-peer reviewed publications. The methodological quality of studies was assessed using Methodological Index for Nonrandomized Studies (MINORS).The National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) was used to assess the level of evidence. Result: Five studies met our inclusion criteria. All the included studies reported a significant improvement in body structure, function and activity as a result of using kinesiotaping except two studies that showed no significant improvement in performance during activity |
