Abstract The current research aimed at investigating the effectiveness of using a constructivism-based program on developing the EFL writing skills of third-year preparatory stage students. For this purpose, the quasi-experimental design was adopted with two groups pre-posttest. The research was conducted on 60 students for an experimental group and a control group, 30 students each from third-year preparatory stage students at Ahmed Orabi Preparatory School for Boys in El-Mahalla El-Kubra. The experimental group received the treatment using a constructivist-based program (7E Instructional model) going through seven phases with different strategies and activities. Data were collected through using the following instruments: (1) an EFL writing skills questionnaire and (2) an EFL writing skills test (pre-post) with (3) an analytic rubric to score the students’ performance. The findings of the research revealed that the experimental group’s performance in writing improved significantly. The effect size ((2) of the constructivism program was found to be high and it was recommended to use the constructivist program as a useful model for teaching EFL skills. |
