Abstract

This experiment was carried out during the summer 2018, fall 2018/2019 and summer 2019 at the Experimental Farm of Baloza station, Desert Res. Center, North Sinai Governorate Egypt to study the effect of different doses of irradiation and irrigation water levels on growth, yield and quality of some potato cultivars. Dry tubers of four potato cultivars (Solanum tuberosum L.), i.e., Spunta, Cara, Caruso and Hermes were irradiated with gamma rays and were sown in the open field under full irrigation on 11th February, 2018 to obtain M1 generation tubers. Results othe both seasons reveal that, Plant height, aerial stem number/ plant, number of leaves/plant, leaf area, and total chlorophyll in leaves and total yield/fed significantly exhibited the high values as the effected by the interaction among irradiation at 20 Gy, irrigation level at 80% from FC and Spunta potato cv in the two mutagenic generations. Treated Hermes cv with 20 Gy irrigated with the moderate level of irrigation was the best triple interaction treatment for enhancing dry matter and total carbohydrates contents in tuber of potato as well as thickness of medvein and lamina in leaf tissues. On the other hand, Spunta-20 Gy produced the highest number of bands (32) with high polymorphism of 93.3% whilst; both 20 and 40-Gy Cara genotypes produced the lowest number of bands (29 bands) with 45% polymorphism. 20-Gy Irradiated Cara and Caruso genotypes under 60% water stress recorded the lowest values of all abovementioned traits in the 1st and 2nd mutagenic generations.
