Abstract

A total number of 288 apparently healthy fish of Nile tilapia Oreochromis niloticus with an average body weight 21. 38±0.45 g were used in this study to evaluate the effect of olibanum extract and rosemary leaves extract as feed additives on health of O. niloticus.
Two experiments were carried out (one for each plant with 144 fish for each experiment) to evaluate the effect of different levels of medicinal plant extract on growth performance, nonspecific immunity, antioxidant activity and disease resistance of O.niloticus against staphylococcus aureus infection. Fish were equally divided into four groups for each experiment with three replicates for each group (12 fish /replicate).
The 1st experiment for estimating the effect of the OE on health of O.niloticus composed of four groups the 1st group (OE0) acts as a control group which fed only the basal diet, in the 2nd (OE0.5), 3rd (OE1) and 4th (OE1.5) groups the plant extract added by 0.5%, 1% and 1.5%. While the
2nd experiment for estimating the effect of RE on health of O.niloticus
composed of four groups the 1st group (RE0) acts as a control group which fed only the basal diet, in the 2nd (RE0.5), 3rd (RE1) and 4th (RE1.5) groups the plant extract added by 0.5%, 1% and 1.5%. Weight was recorded and blood samples were collected to determine some
biochemical and immunological parameters, also whole fish tissue was sampled to analyze the chemical body composition of the experimented fish.
