Abstract It is quite obvious that, in recent times, interest has increased in games. Researchers and developers propose new games that include new concepts and features day after day. Nowadays, games are increasingly used as an effective method to reach the desired goals in many fields, for example; healthcare, defense, communication, politics, military training, space, education, and other fields that tried to benefit from the use of games in their operations. In the Education field, to succeed in an Information Systems (IS) study program, potential university students should prove readiness to acquire several competencies after enrollment. At the public universities in Egypt, university admission is based on scores acquired in pre-university education using conventional assessment methods, which put students in stressful circumstances where students can’t perform to their full potential. Stealth assessment solves such problems where serious games can use to assess knowledge, skills, attitudes, or competencies that players can play in a natural environment, where leads to a proper evaluation. In this thesis, a games-based assessment which can be considered a type of stealth assessment is proposed to assess readiness levels to acquire some competencies for potential students enrolling in an IS program. Aspects related to game design are presented, and a first version was developed using Unity and tested by some students who would potentially enroll in an IS program in Alexandria University, Egypt. The developed game is part of a bigger platform: Let’SeGA for assessment and assignment of students to academic programs. |
