Abstract This thesis present an experimental study on the contamination levels caused by phosphate fertilizer factory over the agricultural land and the residential area, beside the Nile river branch of Abu-Zabal city by analyzing the elemental concentration of plant, soil and water residual samples using Instrumental Neutron Activation Analysis (INAA), and studying the natural radioactivity of 226Ra (238U-series), 232Th and 40K in order to understand the occurrence and distribution of natural radionuclides in this area. The study concerns also with the evaluation of potential health hazards; the radium equivalent activity (Raeq), the external and internal radiation Hazard Index (Hex, Hin), the representative level index (Iγr), the absorbed dose rate (DR), and the annual effective dose equivalent (AEDE) in the air for all soil and plant samples, and for quality control for the hazards of fertilizer companies in Egypt, specially this factory because it is surrounded by very large agriculture lands and also surrounded by many villages, as well as its location in front of the Ismalia canal (branch from Nile river) which is the main source of drinking water in this area. The thesis contains two parts, part one consist of three chapters and part two consist of four chapters, (164) reference, plus English and Arabic summary. |
