Abstract Obesity is a chronic worldwide health problem, which affect more than 600 million person and expected to increase in the next decade by about 40%. Obesity has several complications on the body as DM, hypertension, ischemic heart disease, dyslipidemia, GERD and obstructive sleep apnea. In addition, obesity has hazardous effect on the kidney as ORG, FSGS, diabetic nephropathy and renal stones. In this trial 40 patients were assessed for obesity parameters (clinical, laboratory) and to assess the level of renal inflammatory marker (MCP-1) in morbid obese patients before and after bariatric surgeries and to study if there any possible relation between the MCP1 levels and renal function before and after surgery. Increase the GFR level and albuminuria before the surgery. There was significantly decrease in urinary MCP-1 and MCP-1/ cr ratio level in urine after the surgery while there was no correlation between MCP-1 and renal function. Our trial showed no significant deference in MCP-1 and MCP-1/cr level between sleeve gastrectomy and minigastric bypass. |
