Abstract Professional identity has become one of the most important challenges in nursing education due to the attempts to prepare nurses for professional roles in a changing healthcare environment. This study aiming to examine the influence of clinical learning environment on the development of nursing students’ professional identity.Descriptive correlational research design was used to achieve study objectives. This study conducted in the Faculty of Nursing Port- Said University. All nursing students at third and fourth academic year were participated in this study . Data collected by using one tool consisted of three parts:A Self structured questionnaire data sheet, Learning Environment Scale and professional identity scale. The result revealed that:about two thirds of nursingstudents(67%) perceived their environment as low effective learning environment and more than four fifth of nursing students(93%) had positive professional identity. In conclusion , a statistically positive correlation was found between clinical learning environment and professional identity .the study results recommended that: The faculty should increase facilities that create effective clinical learning environment and Faculty member should encourage students to be interested by social problems associated with nursing. |
