Abstract The present investigation was conducted to isolate, identify and determine the fungi concentration in the outdoor and indoor air of Suez General Hospital, Suez Chest Hospital, Health Insurance Hospital and Petroleum Medical Center at Suez Governorate. The thesis divides into eight parts, part (1): the introduction which contain the aim ,the reasons and the clinical importance of this study. Part (2): the literature review which addresses outdoor and indoor mycobiota in hospitals, adverse effects of outdoor and indoor mycobiota on patient’s health in hospitals and antifungal activity of essential volatile oils against pathogenic fungi. Part (3): material and methods which involves the material and media used for isolation of fungi, methods of extraction of the crude mycotoxins and detection of antifungal activity of some essential volatile oils against pathogenic fungi. Part (4): included the obtained results witch divided into three sections, section1:include the names and colony unite formation/m3 of isolated fungi from each area of each hospital under the study, the second section: included the crude mycotoxins which extracted from some isolated pathogenic fungi, and the third sections; included the antifungal activity of some essential volatile oils against pathogenic fungi and the result presented that cinnamon, clove and rose oils showed significant effect against some pathogenic fungi.
