Abstract The present thesis comprises seven chapters. The first one includes an introduction. The second chapter contains a review of the literatures. The third chapter deals with the materials and methods used to isolate stem cells from midgut of the 3rd larval instar of Culex pipiens mosquitoes and cultivate this cells in the appropriate media and to take 3μm toluidine blue stained sections from the larval midgut to examine the midgut epithelial cells. The fourth chapter contains the obtained results based on the differential counting of isolated midgut epithelial cells in vitro and follow up their growing in the culture without the addition of any growth factor, the observation of the midgut epithelial cells and their activity in vivo from the 3 μm thickness toluidine blue stained sections after different time intervals post feeding comparing with the unfed control group and follow up the formation of the peritrophic membrane. The fifth chapter contains a discussion of the obtained results and comparing it with the previous literatures. The sixth chapter contains summary and conclusion. The last chapter contains the list of the references. |
