المستخلص This research discusses the problem of the lack of meeting the needs of people with special needs in public buildings during the design phase and the role of architectural design in solving this problem in Egypt in particular and employing design to serve the people with special needs and all members of the society without exception, where the research is exposed to study the requirements of people with special needs in public buildings in order to focus on the importance of providing their needs when using public buildings and facilitate their full reliance on the same in accordance with the foundations and technological standards of being part of the society. He also studied architectural barriers and problems and their treatments for the rehabilitation of public buildings, and also concerned whether there is a gap between the architectural design of an environment that suits the requirements of people with special needs and the practical implementation of projects through the study of international requirements and controls and the study of Arabic codes and compare them with the requirements to know the deficiencies in codes and how to address the codes to the requirements of those with special needs, and to know what the Egyptian code lacks to promote it. The research reached the division of requirements according to the type of disability and the use of technology and a proposal to modify the Egyptian code for people with special needs to suit all categories and to the mechanism of rehabilitation of public buildings to suit the requirements of those with special needs and facilitate their lives and not increase their suffering and appreciation. |
