Abstract

We performed a prospective study on 20 female patients through injection of foam sclerosant in refluxing ovarian and pelvic veins percutaneusly. We assessed the clinical improvement of chronic pelvic pain and its associating symptoms over one year duration. There were 20 premenopausal females with a mean age of 33.8 [20-45].The mean parity was 3.05. The most frequent presentation was dyspareunia in 80% of patients then urgency by 60%.We used Ethanolamine oleate to occlude refluxing pelvic and left ovarian vein in all patients , in one patient we injected it through tributaries of left internal iliac vein. VAS score was our method to determine and follow up the clinical improvement in our patients. It was noticed that there was a significant relief in standing pelvic and leg pain, dyspareunia, dysmenorrheal and urinary manifestations by more than 50%. This relief was maintained through one year the time of our study. Therewas insignificant relief in lying down pelvic and leg pain intensity. There were minor complications in only 3 patients represented in contrast allergy and post procedural pain. The technical success was 100% through the steps of the maneuver from puncture till injection and completion venography. we achieved a primary clinical success in 95% of the patients which continued through the time of the study.
