Abstract

dyspepsia is a common medical problem ,may be due to functional or organic causes. Aim of the work: study endoscopic and histopathologic changes in patients with dyspepsia and their relations to the presentation of dyspepsia. Patients and methods: the study included 66 patients referred for endoscopy attending to the gastroenterology clinic suffering from dyspeptic symptoms. Results: endoscopic findings were normal in the majority of the included cases and gastritis was the most commonly detected pathological findings. No statistically significant difference was detected between the cases with positive and negative H.pylori stool antigen as regards of sex distribution, residence, smoking, food pattern (spicy food), presenting symptoms and degree of anemia. Conclusion: dyspepsia is the common presentation among cases complaining from upper GIT symptoms. Most of the cases were positive for H. pylori stool antigens indicating high prevalence among cases with upper GIT symptoms. Most of the cases with upper GIT symptoms had benign pathology on histopathological analysis. aled high sensitivity in comparison with histopathological findings in diagnosis cases with upper GIT symptom.
