Abstract

During the first part of this investigation, biodiversity, occurrence and seasonality of aquatic mycobiota (Straminipiles and true zoosporic fungi, Ingoldian fungi and terrestrial fungi) in two water areas exposed to treated sewage water (El-Zinnar irrigation canal) and industrial effluents of oils and detergents factory(El-Ibrahimia canal) at Assiut Governorate. Forty-four surface water sampleswere collected seasonally (11 samples for each season) from El-Zinnar canal (6 samples each season) and El-Ibrahimia canal (5 samples each season) during winter 2017 to autumn 2018.Concomitantly, submerged mixed leaf litter samples were collected from the same water sites for detecting the associated Ingoldian fungi. Some physico-chemical water characteristics were determined and their correlation with the biodiversity, seasonality and occurrence of monitored aquatic mycobiota were assessed.
In the second part, some morphological and physiological alterations of some selected fungi as affected by some heavy metals and some industrial dyes were investigated. In addition, the bioremediability of some selected fungi was also evaluated.
