Abstract Recently, high-voltage direct current (HVDC) technology based on voltage-source converter (VSC) technology has been an area of growing interest due to several merits of utilizing the VSC with pulse width modulation (PWM) techniques. This thesis investigates voltage source converter (VSC) control and stability analysis for regulating the DC-link voltage. Modulus optimum and symmetrical optimum methods are utilized for tuning the gain parameters of current and voltage controllers in order to achieve satisfied system performance. Voltage controllers’ gain parameters are also tuned by pole placement tuning method. A brief study of the effect of gain parameters on the output DC-link voltage response and poles/zeroes movement discussed using a manual method. |
