Abstract

Rhinitis is an inflammatory condition affecting the lining of the nose,.characterized by nasal obstruction, nasal congestion, rhinorrhea, itching, sneezing and/or.post-nasal discharge. More than 20% of the population is affected by chronic rhinitis..Depending on whether an allergic etiology is implicated, non-infectious rhinitis can be.subdivided into allergic and non-allergic..AIM OF THE WORK: The aim of the work is to compare efficacy and safety of.posterior nasal neurectomy versus submucous diathermy of inferior turbinate in allergic.rhinitis and vasomotor rhinitis patients with persistent symptoms not relieved by medical.treatment..PATIENTS AND METHODS: The study was conducted over one year from July 2017.to June 2018 on 57 patients at the department of Otorhinolaryngology, Mansoura.University Hospitals. For all the patients, the right side of the nose was selected for.posterior nasal neurectomy and the left side was selected for submucous diathermy of.inferior turbinate..RESULTS: 6 months after operation, there was no statistically significant difference.between right and left sides regarding studied symptoms.
