Abstract The present study was conducted at Animal Production Research Institute (APRI), Egypt, and Department of Animal Production, Faculty of Agriculture, Tanta University. Dams: A total of 40 lactating Egyptian buffalos (550-650 kg live body weight were used in this study. Animals were at late gestation period (60 days prepartum)based on the expected date of parturition. All animals were in good health status and clinically free of parasites and housed outdoor.At the beginning of the experiment, animals were allocated to 4 similar groups (10/group) according to their body weight, milk yield and body conformation in the previous season Feeding system:Animal of dams in all groups were fed control ration composed of 60% concentrate feed mixture (CFM), 40% roughage (berseem & rice straw). The CFM for each animal was offered individually twice daily at 6 a.m. and 5 p.m. after milking, while Roughage were offered at 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Clean water was available to animals at all times. |
