Abstract

There are many treatment techniques can be applied on wastewater including Electrolysis. Electrodes made from Iron, Steel, Aluminum and graphite are mainly the most common in electrolytic treatment of wastewater. Among the electrochemical processes, this process is a very suitable choice, because it proved achieving more satisfactory removal and also due to the easy and cost-effective in technological aspect. The main research efforts in the future will focus on physio- chemical and/or biological treated wastewater for the optimization of electrolytic technology in order to serve the requirement limits of discharged wastewater for its reuse. The research scope on measuring the ability of the technique to treat wastewater from different sources trying to understand the way of treatment in order to come up with the best design optimization for each wastewater source effluent. The samples were taken from a detergent factory industrial wastewater samples beside using a domestic wastewater samples. In this research the system performance was able to achieve an average removal ratio of Oil & Grease (90.63 %), BOD (96.18%) Organic Nitrogen (64.15 %), TDS (89.47 %), COD (90.71 %) and TSS (93 %) in a retention time ranging from 60 to 90 minutes .The treatment operation rate become slower after reaching these ratios as the conductivity values of the samples decrease . After all, the key solution for the treatment optimization is higher conductivity values of samples which will allow faster and more effective treatment operation. As a result of that the Electrolysis process is much more effective in industrial wastewater treatment which has higher conductivity values.
