Abstract This work was conducted to study the effect of respiratory affections in sheep and their associated bacteriological, hematological ,biochemical , immunological and antioxidant changes .A total 150 samples ( nasal swabs, ocular swabs and blood samples) were collected from 30 sheep of 2 farms of different ages (2-7 months) (apparently healthy & diseased sheep before and after treatment by using sulphatrimethoprim , kanamycin 25 %, ketoprofen and AD3E.While, Farm B were treated with oxytetracycline20%L.A, sulphadimidine 33.3 %, declophen5% and AD3E for 5 days treatment). The isolated bacterial pathogens from farm A were Enterobacter cloacae and Pasteurella multocida in percentage (80% and 50%), Pasteurella haemolytica and Klebsiella pneumoniae in percentage (30% and 60%) respectively. Concerning the hematological findings of farm A revealed significant decreases in Hb content, PCV percent, MCH, MCV and MCHC leading to microcytic hypochromic anemia (iron deficiency anemia) and thrombocytopenia with significant increase in T.L.C coupled with lymphocytosis, monocytosis, eosinophilia and neutropenia. While, farm B showed significant decrease in RBCS count, Hb content, PCV % with significant increase in MCV with decrease in MCHC (regenerative stage of hemorrhagic anemia) as well as thrombocytopenia. Marked T.L.C with neutrophilia, monocytosis and eosinophilia with lymphocytopenia. Additionally, the parameters of erythrogram and leucogram showed improvement post treatment. Serum biochemical examination of farms A&B revealed significant elevation in liver enzymatic activities of AST, ALT, ALP, GGT, LDH and total biliruben with significant decrease in total protein and albumin with significant increase in globulin, urea and creatinine. Immunological results in farm A showed marked increase in Interlukin10 (IL-10) and insignificant change in Interleukin 1β (IL-1β) which improved after treatment. While, farm B showed marked increase in (IL-1β) and insignificant change in (IL-10). The study included oxidative changes in which farm A&B revealed marked increase in lipid peroxide (MDA) and decrease in Total antioxidant capacity (TAC) which improved after treatment. |
