Abstract The present work was carried out in the Nursery and Laboratory of Floriculture, Faculty of Agriculture and Faculty of Pharmacy Laboratory - Minia Univ. during the two successive seasons of 2015/2016 and 2016/2017 to investigate the effect of farmyard manure (FYM), vitamins (E and B1) and active yeast treatments, as well as, their interaction on the vegetative growth, flowering aspects, seed weight/plant and chemical composition of borage (Borago officinalis, L.) plants. In this regard, two factors were examined, the main plot (A) was farmyard manure at levels of (0, 10, 15 and 20 m3/fed), while, the sub plot (B) was vit. E (25 ppm), vit. E (50 ppm), vit. B1 (25 ppm), vit. B1 (50 ppm), active yeast (5 g/l), active yeast (10 g/l) and control. Also, the interaction between main and sub plots (A×B) was tested. It could be recommended to fertilize borage plants with farmyard manure at 20 m3/fed and spraying plants with active yeast (10 g/l) to improve the vegetative growth, flowering aspects, seed yield or fertilizing plants with FYM at 20 m3/fed and spraying plants with vit. B1 at 50 or 25 ppm to obtain the high yield of alkaloids /plant under Minia Governorate. |
