Abstract This study was carried out to evaluate the effect of irradiation of organic residues and their composts using gamma rays at different doses on canola plant grown on a sand soil and its uptake of NPK. Four organic wastes varied in their chemical composition were used in this study. These wastes were poultry manure (PM), sugarcane bagasse (SB) , leaves of leucaena trees (LL) non-irradiated and irradiated (ILL) using gamma rays at three doses (2.5, 5.0 and 10 KGY) composts of PM, SB and LL and ILL and their mixtures were evaluated . Composting was done in cubic containers of 50X50X50 cm. The pot experiment was conducted in pvc pots 10.0 KGY each. There 15 treatments; 6 representing PM, SB, LL and ILL. 8 of composted PM, SB, LL, ILL and mixtures of them. This experiment was carried out to study the effect of applying the organic wastes and their composts on canola plants. |
